The Douro Museum was created in 1997 to provide a sample of this region demarcated and the economic and wine region. Installed in an old manor house, it gathers other museums around the country, in order to better spread the region. In addition to the various exhibitions it hosts, it also promotes other cultural activities, being the only museum in the country with a resident string quartet.
