This museum belongs to the Collective Transport Society of Porto and was inaugurated on May 18, 1992. Despite having a short time, it has managed a program of important cultural events in the city of Porto, being today one of the most visited museums. It has a vast collection of vehicles ranging from the American car, animal traction, passing through various models of electric car for people transportation and also for goods transports. The museum also has a vast collection of documents, photographs and various materials related to the operation and maintenance of these vehicles. In addition to these activities, the Museu do Carro Eléctrico has also been the scene of several temporary exhibitions in the areas of railway miniaturism, photography and painting, among others.
