The Lajes do Pico Whaling Museum, which specializes in artisanal, seasonal and coastal whaling, is the most visited of the Azores, in addition to the Whaling Industry Museum, and is a privileged space for the overall explanation of Azorean whaling. The covered area is around 2000m2, and consists of: a set of three whaling houses of the 19th century, complemented by a blacksmith's tent, integrated in a new built body that houses an archive and a library specialized in the theme of whaling; an area for the reception and sales shop, the Temporary Exhibition Gallery, the Educational Services, the Photographic Archive, the Management and Technical and Administrative Services and a modern Auditorium.
