History confirms the existence of the Cathedral since the year 400. It stands out: the galilee (XV century) and its iron grid, the great stone of arms of the archbishop D. Rodrigo de Moura Teles, the tile coating of the chapel of São Pedro de Rates, the finest neoclassical gilded carving of the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament and the organs of the high choir - works of the thirteenth century. Considered one of the most important Romanesque temples in the country, here are the tombs of Henry of Burgundy and Teresa of Leon, parents of the king D. Afonso Henriques.
