The Café Santa Cruz is installed in the old Church of S. João de Santa Cruz, built in 1530 as a parish church. In 1921 the building was considered a national monument and the space was used as Café-Restaurant, becoming a national reference. The most recent architectural interventions sought to promote the use of this space as a privileged cultural center of the city, adopting a revivalist appearance, brightened by a set of stained glass windows. The "Crúzio", regional sweet, intends to honor the Café, the Church and the Monastery of Santa Cruz, valuing what was once done in this magnificent space.
